53 km from Boulmane, the access to the ruins of the Glaoui Kasbah (close to the Saghro Hotel) towers on a headland which overhangs the small town of Tinerhir. It is the occasion to admire one of the most beautiful palm plantations of Morocco, extending to the buttresses of the High Atlas.
The fortification was formerly built in order to supervise the circulation of the caravans towards Fès. Certain lanes and the market on the Hassan II Avenue are full of charm. Before heading towards the splendid Gorges of Todra, a small walk in the palm plantation is essential: you can observe there the irrigation systems and the flourishing the gardens. |
